About Kalamity

Kalamity is your resident cryptid and queer writer creating epic monster romantasies with serious plots in the confines of unusual premises.

She's a career monster lover who fell in love with Darkness from Legend, thought The Beast was better Before™️, and whose library of interests can be boiled down to: exploring mythology of gods and demons with the patriarchal lens removed; frolicking with morally grey protagonists; sharing an obsessive amount of werewolf lore and media; Doug Jones' entire filmography; and all of Guillermo del Toro's movies.

Her storytelling passion is driven by empathizing more with the monster than the man in every book or movie she's ever experienced and wanting to explore more of the fictional lives of those fellow cryptids on the page. She loves to share tales of enemy-to-lover romances, ride-or-die friendships, characters who can be unapologetically evil while loving just as hard, the salvation of found family and, above all, the strength of hope and kindness in the bleakest of times against the most impossible odds.

Her first original novel (title TBR late 2026) is in drafting stages with estimated self-publishing release to be next year, 2027.
